Senior year so far...

Okay, so I know it has been over two months since I last posted, but I have been extremely busy since school started!

So far, senior year has been very fun, but also very hectic!! It seems I get more and more homework everyday and it is hard to balance it all with work, dance and extracurricular activities, as well as battling senioritis! I am trying as hard as I can to have a bit of a social life, but it is not working out very well! Even if I spend a couple hours with my friends, I get behind.

I have taught my body, however, to live off of about 5 hours of sleep a night, and it works out okay, except Monday's are especially difficult! And every now and then, on special occasions, I get about 2 hours of sleep!

Somehow, with everything that is going on, I am still able to enjoy life and have fun! I just hope that things will calm down after a little while! (but it's not likely)

Back to School

Well, I haven't written in a long time, so here is what has been going on. On August 3, my mom, my sister and I went to Florida to visit my grandparents for ten days. While we were there we drove to Miami on August 6 to get on a 4-day cruise to Key West and Cozumel. The cruise was amazing! The only problem is that there was way too much good, food. And it was all free! We have been off the ship for a week and I am still afraid to weigh myself! Anyway, we got home from Florida late Sunday night. The next day we started practices for Chambers. For three days we had to go up to school for two hours and work hard! By the end all of us were worn out and dripping with sweat. It was really disgusting. After that, school started on Thursday and I have to say: being a Senior is GREAT! I love it! This year is going to be so amazing! On Friday, Chambers had to perform our first two dances for the freshman. It was really fun, and the freshman loved it, which is good because they usually laugh and make fun of Chambers on the first day. Oh, one more exciting thing. Next Wednesday, the big production that Marissa and I are in from dance gets to perform at halftime at the Wizards' game! I get to go on the field at Arrowhead!! Overall, life is pretty good this month!

Branson

Last week, my mom, my sister and I took a five-day trip to Branson for a National dance competition. When we weren't dancing, we were shopping and eating (a lot). My sister and I were in the same three dances. Our jazz got a first and lyrical got a top-first. Our last dance was a production with over fifty dancers. It got a top-first and third overall. The top five dances in each category performed Saturday in the Gold Group Challenge. Our production made it and in the danceoff, we got third. (In case you were totally confused about the last five sentences, I'll clue you in: we did VERY well)! So, anyway, now competition teams are over and we just have technique classes throughout the summer. Oh wait! One more thing! Every year at Nationals, all of the competition teams in the dance academy get together for a pizza party and the teachers give every single dancer a little award they made out of construction paper and markers. Most of them are silly, inside-jokes, but some are actually awards, such as Most Improved. Which, out of all of the top teams, I recieved this award!! It was great! I felt so special! OK. Now I really have nothing else to say except BYE.

World's Of Fun

Yesterday I went to world's of fun with my Chambers group for nine hours! There were 18 of us and it was crazy!! We had so much fun riding rides, eating junk food, joking around, and getting soaked over and over again on the Monsoon! I am so excited about Chambers next year because this group is amazing! The people are so much better than the people last year, and all of us are friends! The day was so great, but I was extremely tired afterward. I slept great last night!
Our next Chambers outing is the Hairspray movie on July 20.

My OWN Review

Two days ago, I saw Pirates of the Carribean 3 with my mom, sister, and grandma. I have to say, I am sick of reading reviews saying it is confusing and lacks the charm of the first two movies. I feel that anyone who gets confused while watching this movie just lacks the intelligence (or common sense) to follow along. I do admit that the third movie does not have the same charm as the preceding movies. It takes its own path, but it is not dislikeable. There are many humorous moments, but, overall, the film was meant to be a drama (not unlike the second movie). Although the nearly 3-hour movie is long, it is continually entertaining. I believe that this movie was a good ending to the Pirates trilogy. Anyone who sees it should know that there is a final scene after the credits, but it is almost not worth waiting because it seems like the credits are nearly three hours long thhemselves.

I CAN'T believe it!

School is over until August! It is amazing! I still feel like I should be doing homework and stressing out, but everything is cool. Well I do have to read two books, do a huge project for each, and 84 math problems, but still, I am very happy.
Also, today I got a job as a hostess at Applebee's! I am so excited! It is going to be a great place to work.
There are some negative things going on too. This weekend is our dance recital and this year there are our shows, so we will be at Louisburg High School for three days. This means that I have to miss my friend's big end of the year party tonight, and Katie's going away party on Saturday! That's right! She is moving to Virginia in two days, and I won't even get to have a decent goodbye! I am sooooo sad that she is moving! I will miss her so much!!
Still, life is pretty good right now!

Please don't go

I just finished writing a note to my best friend in her yearbook. This is something I have done every year, but this time it is different. On June 3 she is moving to Virginia. This time the note was much longer and as soon as I finished and signed my name, I started bawling. Before that moment it had never registered in my mind that she is leaving. Suddenly it hit and I couldn't control myself. I can't imagine what it will be like to say goodbye. That day will be one of the hardest days of my life.
We have been best friends for the past five years, and now she is leaving and I will probably only see her a couple more times in my entire life! I can't imagine what it is going to be like next year. She won't be in my Spanish class, like she has been for the last three years, she won't be there for all of the senior things, she won't be there for my birthday, the list goes on and on. I just wish she didn't have to leave. I am not ready to say goodbye.

Lockdown

Today was a very scary day!
Yesterday, a threat was found in a stall in a boy's bathroom at my school that said: "I am going to kill myself and take people down with me." And it gave Friday as the date. This morning the principal made an announcement about it saying that it was not credible. Then, while I was at lunch, a bunch of staff members came in, told us to drop our food and go to the auditorium. A few minutes later, the principal made an announcement that we were in a Code Red Lockdown. A while later, someone's mom (who works at the school) texted her and told her that the reason for the lockdown was that they found two more notes. One said "good luck" and the other said "the shooting starts at 12:00." We were locked down for three hours without any updates. Everyone was very scared, especially since the principal did not give us any information. For three hours we had nothing to do but sit and talk. My friends and I said a prayer that everything would be okay. There were SWAT teams, police officers and security guards everywhere. After looking at the security tapes, the police took out all of the boys who had gone into the bathroom that day, questioned them and went through their stuff. When we finally got out, at about 2:30, 75% of the school had not eaten lunch. No one had bathrooms except us in the auditorium. Police officers lined the hallways, and outside 159th street was full of cars of parents. You could barely drive down it. We were never told whether or not the person was found or anything. All after-school activities were cancelled, but there will be school tomorrow; however, many people refuse to go. It was all very scary!

So Sad

This morning I got some bad news. My best friend Katie and her family sold their house last night, after only three days on the market. They have to be out of their house by May 31! Then they are off to Virginia. I can't believe she is going to be gone for our senior year! It will be so sad. She did say that she will be back next year for prom and graduation. She already has three trips planned. Still, it is going to be sad. I am sure I will cry a lot the day she leaves. We have been best friends for over five years. I can't believe she is moving so far away!

What's Goin On

Last weekend, I had to go to the solo/ensemble choir contest and our first dance competition. I had two ensembles at contest and both of them got 1s (the highest possible rating), so now we are going to state contest in Emporia on the 28th. I had three dances that competed at the competition and they all got top 1st (almost the highest). We could have done a lot better than we did, but a lot of people made stupid mistakes. Our next competition is on the 28th also. That is the competition that we will go to nationals with in June. Hopefully we will perform better at this one. Also, yesterday we had the large group choir contest. I don't know how we did yet, but I have a feeling that we got a 1.

Tomorrow is Community Service Day for juniors and seniors at my school. We get out of school all day and work at different locations. I will be at the Lakeside Nature Center in Missouri, which means that I get to work outside. Maybe I will even get a little tan! Anyway, I am excited about it, especially since I won't be at school.

Too Much To Do!

I have been meaning to write for awhile, but I just have not had the time! Lately it seems like I can never do everything I need to unless I cut sleep out of my life. This is what I am talking about: Every day this week I had to stay late after school for all of my activities, as well as go to school early two days. This weekend, I have a dance competition AND a choir contest, so I have absolutely no time to do my homework, which includes writing an essay. Then, today while I was pondering the stress of the weekend to come, I realized that this is not going to stop for a couple more months! Between now and June, I have three dance competitions, two choir contests, the choir Spring Show, a couple Pointe performances, two AP tests (which I have not even started studying for), finals, the SAT AND the ACT! On top of it all, I have to also balance homework, dance, school activities, and find a job! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH! I don't know if I will ever make it to summer vacation! Another downside is that next year wil not be any less stressful. In fact, it could be worse! Next year I will have even harder classes, even more activities, and college applications. (I was also planning on keeping a job during school) Also, for some reason, I chose to run for vice president of the National Spanish Honor Society, and I have been considering running for secretary for the National Honor Society! If I was elected, I would have even more to handle next year! Sorry to go on and on about everything I have to do, but it is a little overwhelming right now. All of this stress is wearing me out.

After Prom

Last night was prom night, however, I did not go to prom, but I did go to after prom from midnight to 4 a.m. It was so much fun! They had everything you could think of: moon bounce, inflatable obstacle course, black jack, poker, a majician, guitar hero, dance dance revolution, a wii, robeks smoothies, sheradin's ice cream, candy, and lots and lots of prizes! My friends and I played black jack most of the night, and we picked a very nice dealer. At the begining of the night, everyone was given a little fake money to start off, and you had to make more throught the night. At the end you cashed in at the bank, and for every $1,000 you got a ticket to enter raffles for prizes. Well, our dealer basically let us win every hand. When we asked for a hit, she asked if we wanted a small, medium, or big hit. Then, she looked through the cards, and pretty much gave you what you wanted, so we bet about $3,000 every hand because we never lost. At the end, I had $52,000 or 52 tickets, but I still didn't win anything! The night was still a lot of fun though, and when I got home, I slep till 11:00!

NHS

Last night, I was inducted into the National Honor Society at my school. The day before a couple boys were joking that it seemed like joining a cult. People just laughed, but you know what? It did! When the inductees arrived at the ceremony, we had to wait for the current president to instruct us to sit. Then four symbolic candles were lit as we listened to a couple speeches. After that, one by one, we walked across the stage and signed our name in "the book." Then, each inductee recieved a candle. We stood in lines with lit candles and recited "the oath" that we were to always follow as members. It truly does feel like we are now members of a cult. (But a good one)

Back to School

Today was the first day back at school since spring break. It was a really long, boring day, and tonight I go back to dance for three hours! It is going to be tiring after so long.

Last night, I was awakened by a banging noise. It was about eleven, so I didn't feel like getting up, but it wouldn't stop. I turned on the light and it was two of my cats hitting my metal trashcan against the dresser. They kept putting their heads and paws in it so I went over, and it sounded like there was something moving. Then, it came out and it was a wasp!! I screamed and ran to wake up my mom, but she wouldn't get up, so I went into Marissa's room (who was doing homework) and shut the door. About ten minutes later, we saw a light turn on and heard loud, banging noises. My mom killed it!! When I went back to bed, I couldn't fall asleep because I felt like it was on me! Today, my cats keep searching all over my room for it and knocking my trash can over. This may not sound like a big deal for some people, but it was major for me. I am scared to death of wasps when they're inside. (I am okay if they are around me outside)

Anyway, that's all. Bye!

Lunch with mom

Today, Marissa and I drove up to where my mom works and ate lunch with her at TGI Fridays. That's about it. By the way, it is going to be around 80 the next four days! OK, Bye!

Shopping!

Today was a good day! Since spring is just around the corner, Marissa and I went shopping at the mall. We had a good time, and I bought a lot of clothes. (10 shirts and a pair of capris) Lisa came up and met us for lunch, which was nice. This is basically what we did all day. When we got home, instead of doing our chores (which we forgot about) we sat on our behinds and watched a couple movies that were on tv. To go with our dinner, mom bought a loaf of Hawaiian Sweet bread. I realized that it was the same bread they use for Communion at church, which is highly understandable because it is heavenly! I could eat it every day. I really recommend that everyone try it. Anyway, that's all I have to say, so bye.

Relay 4 Life

I know I already posted today, but I forgot to talk about Relay 4 Life. This is an annual relay my school does to benefit the American Cancer Society. It takes place in the school gym, and we have to stay up all night! ( I can tell I'm getting old b/c that part was really hard this year!) It was not as fun this year because a lot of my friends had to leave at midnight, and I was exhausted a lot of the time! I am still going to do it next year though!

I have a new blog!

Hi! Okay, so I am a little bit annoyed right now because I had to make a completely new blog! (not that I ever wrote on my old one) I hadn't blogged in awhile, so when I tried to sign-in, I had no idea what my username or password was, and I didn't get the e-mail they sent me, containing them. Oh Well!

But anyway, to catch everyone up (by everyone I mean the like six people who read this) I recently recieved my letter stating that I am going to be inducted in the National Honor Society. Yay!! The problem is, I don't have a nice skirt to wear to the ceremony, so I am going shopping. Yay!! (again).

Also, for about the last month and a half, I have been in the process of auditioning for the Chambers Singers at my school. This a boys and girls show-choir that sings and dances, and they are very good. In order to try-out I had do a dance audition and sing for my teacher several times. (Ah, scary!) But, I found out last Wednesday that I made it! Next year I get to wear the red dress! This is especially good since the blue dress I have now for Classy Ladies suffocates me every time I wear it! (And I am not kidding!) I still have to last the rest of the year, though!

Well, that is pretty much everything exciting that has happened in my life recently, so BYE!
